Job Summary

Responsibilities

Collaborate during procedures with physicians and senior technical staff and perform diagnostic and interventional radiographic procedures with the utmost concern for patient comfort and safety.

Operate complex diagnostic and interventional radiographic equipment, participate in IR procedures within the IR departments, peri‑operative environments, bedside, and elsewhere as needed.

Cross‑train and support sub‑specialties within IR including abdominal, vascular, neuro‑IR, neurosurgery, endoscopic interventions, and cardiac surgery.

Operate multi‑modality imaging equipment, ensure proper patient demographics and documentation for appropriate image storage, ensure proper patient positioning and immobilization, select imaging factors, and initiate fluoroscopy.

Assist physicians during procedures, including positioning of tables or c‑arms, setup for power injections, and advanced imaging techniques.

Calibrate and verify operation of all equipment, notify personnel of malfunctions, begin troubleshooting, and call service engineers when repair is indicated.

Perform post‑processing of images, including reformatting, DYNA CT, and advanced software for overlay, needle‑guidance, emboli‑guidance, and fusion.

Maintain aseptic conditions, prepare procedure trays and medications, and support all lab and specimen handling according to institutional policies.

Follow all hospital guidelines for isolation precautions, aerosol‑generating procedures, and use of personal protective equipment.

Scrub in as a second operator when needed, assist with catheter and wire management, contrast administration, and expedite care to improve quality.

Ensure complete and accurate documentation in EPIC, Nuance, Mobile Aspects, Visage PACS, etc., following two‑identifier patient identification processes.

Maintain inventory tracking, utilization and replenishment, and assist with RFID tagging and stocking of supplies as directed.

Support drop‑off and pick‑up of sterile and soiled supplies to and from IR, soiled utility, and SPD following regulatory guidelines.

Oversee and instruct students and staff, precept new personnel, and collaborate with IR managers and supervisors, adhering to competency‑based training programs.

Participate in research, quality assurance, and improvement projects; stay current on imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment through readings, conferences, and seminars.

Meet state and national continuing education requirements, including radiation protection per state guidelines.

Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule for evenings, weekends, and holidays, handling urgent and routine cases as appropriate.

Maintain professional, constructive relationships and effective communication with departmental staff and other hospital personnel, representing IR positively to staff outside the department.

Additional Job Details

Location: 55 Fruit Street, Onsite Work.

Pay Range: $43.00 – $47.85 per hour (Grade 5).
