Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist for the Cath Lab in Barrington, IL. The role covers scrub, circulate and record duties in Cath/EP or IR, with emphasis on hemodynamic interpretation and image quality.

Responsibilities include patient safety, sterile technique, teamwork, and acting as a radiation safety resource. Current IL RT licensure with AART, BLS and ACLS within 6 months are required; an Associate Degree in Radiology is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current IL RT licensure and AART; BLS and ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• 2-year Associate Degree from Accredited School of Radiology.
• Experience preferred in X-ray and Imaging Special Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provides scrub support during diagnostic and interventional procedures; anticipates provider needs.
• Competent in all roles for Cath/EP or IR.
• Operates imaging equipment; serves as radiation expert resource.
• Communicates clearly with providers and team to ensure QA in imaging and hemodynamics.
• Maintains sterile technique; assists and circulates with patient care.
• Utilizes safety tools in patient interactions and acts as patient advocate.
• Serves as resource; provides in-services on radiation safety, image quality, etc.
• Assists with supply inventory; acts as technical expert.
• Participates in site/system teams and staff meetings.

Job description

Major Responsibilities:

• Provides scrub support during diagnostic and interventional procedures; anticipates provider needs.
• Competent in all roles for Cath/EP or IR.
• Demonstrates competence in operation of all imaging and related equipment; serves as a radiation expert resource.
• Provides clear communication, collaborates with providers and team regarding technical issue to ensure reliability of quality assurance in imaging, hemodynamics and oximetry.
• Ensures patient care is delivered in a safe manner and within scope of practice. Sterile technique followed with prepping, draping, assisting and circulating.
• Utilizes safety tools and tactics in all patient care interactions.
• Serves as patient advocate, ensures documentation, educational needs identified and plan of care agreed upon.
• Serves as resource to the team; provides inservices to team relating to technical skill enhancement, radiation safety, image quality, QA and closure device techniques.
• Assist with supply inventory, serves as technical expert and resource.
• Actively participates in site or system teams; attends site staff meetings and ongoing educational offerings as available.

Education/Experience Required:

• Current RT licensure in State of IL and current AART. BLS. ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• 2-year Associate Degree from Accredited School of Radiology.
• Previous Imaging Experience Preferred in Xray, Imaging Special Procedures

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to perform lifting, pulling, pushing activities and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
