Job summary

Targeted Provision Ltd seeks experienced SEND tutors in the UK for one-to-one sessions with children and young people. You’ll work on their terms with flexible placements, planning, and reporting from home where possible.

These self-employed roles require 2+ years’ teaching or tutoring, QTS/QTLS or equivalent, and safeguarding compliance. Sessions typically 1–2 hours, with pay between £28-£35 per hour, and invoicing through our tutor portal.

• QTS or QTLS or equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Confident teaching English, Maths, or Science at Key Stages.
• Ability to promote safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one tutoring with children aged 4–18.
• Deliver sessions in English, Maths or Science.
• Complete per-session reports using templates for SEND Support Specialist.
• Operate as self-employed tutor with flexible placements and invoicing.

You’ll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We’re recruiting experienced SEND tutors in West Yorkshire, £28 - £35 per hour , for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who’ve fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

How we work

Day to day

• One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours , in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
• Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs ; many are out of school or at risk of being so.
• Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You’ll need

• Experience: 2+ years’ teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.

Invoicing and payments

Paid monthly via an auto-generated invoice you approve in our tutor portal.

You may have worked as

SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), SEND Teacher, Special Needs Teacher, Special Needs Tutor, 1:1 Tutor, Home Tutor, Alternative Provision Tutor, Reintegration Tutor, Intervention Specialist, Inclusion Coordinator, or a mainstream / class teacher including Maths, English or Science with SEND experience.
