Job summary

New Story Schools in Ohio seeks an Intervention Specialist to lead a small, 6-student self-contained classroom, delivering structured, hands-on daily instruction aligned with each student’s IEP.

You will collaborate with RBTs, BCBAs, and integrated OT and SLP professionals to support academic, social, and behavioral growth, while maintaining thorough documentation and partnering with families and school teams to drive meaningful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
• Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License or Alternative Resident Educator License.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Strong collaboration and communication with families and school teams.
• Dedication to inclusive, student-centered instruction and behavioral support.
• Comfortable with challenging behaviors and openness to learning support strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small, manageable, self-contained 6-student classroom with individualized, hands-on daily instruction.
• Collaborate with RBTs serving as paraprofessionals who understand ABA and data collection.
• Collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts, and have access to an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Language Pathologist integrated into programming.
• Plan and teach lessons aligned with each student’s IEP goals.
• Assess academic, behavioral, and social growth and adjust instruction using data.
• Partner with families, support staff, and service providers to coordinate student support.
• Maintain clear documentation to support compliance and progress monitoring.

As an Intervention Specialist at New Story Schools, you will create structured, engaging, and individualized learning experiences that help students build essential academic, social, and behavioral skills. You will guide a small classroom environment, deliver instruction aligned with each student’s IEP, and collaborate closely with families and multidisciplinary teams to support meaningful growth. This role will not include shared classrooms which allows you to truly know your students and run a predictable, structured classroom.

What You’ll Need
