Job Summary:

The Intervention Specialist at Kids Thrive Pediatric Mental Health plays a vital role in providing educational instruction and behavioral support to children in a therapeutic setting. The Intervention Specialist collaborates with mental health professionals and supports staff to create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment tailored to the needs of children facing behavioral and emotional challenges.

Education:

• Active Ohio intervention specialist license strongly preferred
• Completion of resident educator program strongly preferred
• Alternative license with relevant experience considered

Experience:

• At least two years of classroom teaching experience with K-6 behavioral health populations
• Experience maintaining compliant special education documentation, including administering assessments, reporting progress, and providing input for IEPS, ETRs, and other requirements
• Experience implementing positive behavior supports, trauma-informed care, and related interventions

Position Requirements:

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with individualized education goals and therapeutic interventions
• Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects while integrating social-emotional learning strategies
• Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs
• Collaborate with therapists, behavioral specialists, and support staff to reinforce therapeutic strategies
• Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to manage classroom behavior
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements
• Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Participate in professional development on trauma-informed care and behavioral health
• Perform other duties as assigned
