The Intervention & Assessment Coordinator (IAC) works to improve, refine, and implement schoolwide intervention frameworks, practices, and student supports. The IAC collaborates with the Instructional Leadership and Skills teams to enhance teachers’ planning, preparation, and execution of interventions for struggling students.

Responsibilities

Assessment & Curriculum Development and Implementation

  • Administer school-wide trimesterly + Universal Screener assessments
  • Lead data team meetings after each Universal Screener round to analyze results, identify students needing additional supports, and adjust intervention groupings as needed
  • Develop, revise and implement ambitious, rigorous, and standards‑aligned curricula, lesson and unit plans, and activities to meet and exceed academic standards
  • Create strong alignment with intervention curriculum across grade levels through scope and sequences and lesson materials
  • Design, revise, and implement rigorous interim assessments aligned to academic targets, the scope and sequence, and Common Core
  • Oversee and improve our schoolwide tracking and re‑teaching framework that ensures regular data collection and strategic opportunities for intervention
  • Ensure increased clarity for all curricular objectives and the corresponding lesson implementation elements (i.e. what/how/why)
  • Develop frameworks for taxonomies and procedures that directly connect to the content(s) of focus

Instructional Leadership (Teacher Development through Coaching and Data Analysis Processes & Professional Development)

  • Ensure intervention team is normed with lesson implementation and application of best practices
  • Create and lead professional development sessions, content, and grade-level meetings focused on best practices and specific taxonomies
  • Analyze student assessment data and work products to determine trends across grade level and support teachers to develop and implement action and intervention plans
  • Observe teachers and provide specific feedback for improvement
  • Motivate and hold team accountable for achieving the school’s rigorous academic and behavioral goals, executing high quality work, meeting deadlines, and upholding the professionalism and core value standards
  • Refine RTI Tier II & Tier III frameworks & procedures and monitor their school-wide implementation, including the accompanying online learning platforms (i.e. IXL, AimsWeb, etc.)
  • Support in the review of classroom teachers’ Tier II intervention plans
  • Develop frameworks & procedures for Support Team referrals, meetings, data collection, and action plans
  • Observe and provide teachers & interventionists with feedback to ensure high quality interventions
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the intervention team to provide Tier III interventions to grade-levels

Teaching

  • Establish and maintain a culture of achievement; uphold school-wide and class systems, rules and consequences, disciplinary codes, and rewards at all times
  • Provide coverage support to classrooms in need, including but not limited to as a model for professional development, when staff members are out, for teachers to observe other classrooms, or for ILs to observe their teams
  • Regularly deliver intervention lessons to struggling students across all grade levels
  • Support in the implementation of key schoolwide instructional systems as needed (e.g. the rollout of online learning initiatives, Guided Reading, et cetera)

Professionalism

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in training, professional development and learning activities
  • Work to continuously improve effectiveness in all instructional practices
