NRG Energy, based in Princeton, is seeking a Wholesale Natural Gas Scheduler to manage nominations, confirmations, and balancing across interstate and intrastate pipelines. The role interfaces with traders, asset managers, and operations to optimize transportation and storage assets in a fast-paced energy trading environment.

Ideal candidates bring at least 2 years of related experience and preferably an undergraduate degree or military background.

Qualifications

• 2+ years relevant work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (military service acceptable).
• Experience coordinating with traders, pipelines and internal teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Nominate and confirm natural gas quantities on interstate pipeline systems.
• Coordinate capacity optimization with Spot Gas Trading and Retail Schedulers.
• Understand pipeline tariffs and commercial aspects of tariffs.
• Use internal systems to execute nominations across multiple pipeline EBBs.
• Build trusted partnerships with schedulers, traders, pipeline reps and internal staff.
• Balance internal ops to meet Nat Gas billing deadlines and controls.
• Enter large volumes of capacity release contracts and rates monthly.

Position Summary

The Wholesale Natural Gas Scheduler is responsible for the timely and accurate scheduling, nomination, confirmation, and balancing of natural gas transactions across interstate and intrastate pipeline systems. This role serves as a critical link between traders, asset managers, counterparties, pipelines, and internal operations teams to ensure the reliable execution of wholesale gas transactions while optimizing transportation and storage assets. The Scheduler monitors pipeline operations, system constraints, and market conditions, manages daily and intraday nominations, and ensures compliance with pipeline tariffs and contractual obligations. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to perform in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment, and a thorough understanding of natural gas transportation, storage, and wholesale market operations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Nominate and confirm scheduled natural gas quantities on interstate pipeline ebbs on a timely basis.
• Work with Spot Gas Trading and Retail Schedulers in the accurate execution of capacity optimizations while balancing retail and wholesale pools
• Gain a complete understanding of the operational and commercial aspects of pipeline tariffs
• Become proficient in the use of internal and external systems for the timely execution of nominations across multiple pipeline EBBs.
• Develop/Maintain trusted partnerships with all parties in the supply chain including 3rd party schedulers, traders, pipeline reps and internal personnel
• Update and balance internal operations system to meet Nat Gas billing deadlines and controls
• Execute and enter large amounts of capacity release contracts and rates on a monthly basis

Minimum Requirements

A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience

• Weekends, Holidays and after-hours work may be required

The base salary range for this position is: $68,000 - $100,000. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
