Supervisor:
Lead Park Ranger

Description:
Interpretive Park Guides work in conjunction with NPS and Volunteer Interpretive Staff. Primary responsibilities include frontline interpretation and interaction with visitors. Park Guides independently staff and interpret daily one of five assigned stations in the Heritage Center and historic depot area, developing and presenting formal interpretive programs and providing informal interpretation to monument visitors about the rich and complex history of Grand Portage, co-management between the NPS and Grand Portage Band, and the significance of the 8.5-mile Grand Portage Trail.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in public speaking and teaching and/or customer service positions (i.e., retail) preferred.

Qualifications:
Must be willing to work outside and in a variety of on-site locations including the Heritage Center, Ojibwe Village, Canoe Warehouse, Historic Gardens, Kitchen and Great Hall. Must be able to engage in public speaking and communicate in a professional manner while maintaining a positive attitude with monument visitors, co-workers, volunteers and supervisory staff.

Grand Portage requires a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for all positions. American Indian Preference will apply.
