Job summary

Brandywine Creek State Park seeks a casual/seasonal interpreter to develop and conduct programs that raise public awareness of Delaware’s natural and cultural resources. The role involves indoor and outdoor work, weekend/evening/holiday availability, and potential progression to a Lead Naturalist after a year on-site.

Qualifications

• Six months experience planning and delivering interpretive programs for adults and children.
• Six months experience coordinating and promoting special events or initiatives.
• Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.
• Knowledge of natural history, anthropology, entomology, ornithology, cultural history, recreation science, and/or ecology.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develops and facilitates educational programs for schools and special events.
• Leads school environmental education programs tied to state standards to increase student understanding of Delaware’s natural and cultural resources.
• Delivers interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
• Helps coordinate and implement hayride programs at Brandywine Creek State Park.
• Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
• Distributes interpretive publications.
• Leads educational and recreational hikes, canoe and kayak trips plus programs for park visitors.
