• Periodically evaluate interpreters’ performance.
• Market Interpreter and Translation Services to community agencies.
• Promote language bank and Title VI compliance materials.
• Negotiate and secure contracts for interpretation services.
• Develop and maintain a system for notification, confirmation, invoicing, and job requests.
• Respond to interpretation requests in a timely, professional manner.
• Review and update the fee schedule to stay competitive.
• Develop and conduct staff trainings on interpreter usage.
• Develop evaluation tools and conduct customer satisfaction inquiries.
• Assess community interpreter needs on an ongoing basis.
• Serve as liaison between agency, clients, and interpreters.
• Schedule interpreter assignments.
• File correspondence and documents as needed.
• Represent the agency professionally in the community.

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and training interpreters and translators for agency clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruits and screens for qualified interpreters.
• Provides orientation and guidelines for interpreting.
• Assists with testing and training materials for interpreters.
• Provides initial training to develop interpreter skills.
• Conducts follow-up meetings and trainings for interpreters at least twice a year.
• Maintains and updates database of available interpreters.
• Periodically evaluates interpreters’ performance.
• Markets Interpreter and Translation Services to agencies in the community.
• Promotes language bank through development of educational materials and programs on Title VI compliance.
• Negotiates and secures contracts for Interpretation Services with agencies in the community where possible.
• Develops and maintains system of notification, confirmation, evaluation and invoicing of job requests.
• Responds to requests for interpretation in a timely, professional manner.
• Reviews and updates fee schedule to remain competitive in the community as needed.
• Develops and conducts training for staff, employers, and community groups on the effective use of interpreters.
• Develops an evaluation tool and conduct customer satisfaction inquiries and modify the program as necessary.
• Continually assess community needs for interpreters.
• Serves as primary liaison between the agency, client, and interpreters.
• Schedules interpreter assignments.
• Files correspondence, forms, and documents as needed.
• Photocopies correspondence or other printed matter.
• Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
• Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent required with three years of related experience.
