The Educational Interpreter II provides interpreting and transliterating services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing to ensure equitable access to instruction, communication, and participation in all aspects of the educational environment.
Provide accurate and complete interpreting/transliterating services between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed English for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Facilitate communication between students and teachers, peers, and other school personnel in instructional and non-instructional settings. Interpret in classroom instruction, small group work, assemblies, meetings, field trips, extracurricular activities, and other school-sponsored events. Collaborate with general and special education staff to support student access to academic content. Share relevant observations with teachers regarding student comprehension and engagement while maintaining professional role boundaries. Prepare for assignments by reviewing lesson plans, materials, vocabulary, and environmental considerations. Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with district policy and applicable laws. Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines for educational interpreters. Participate in ongoing professional development. Perform other related duties as assigned.
