Job summary

Ascentria Community Services Inc is seeking a Language Bank Interpreter to provide professional interpretation across judicial, health, and social services settings in Manchester, NH.

You will render messages faithfully in both directions, maintain confidentiality, travel as needed, and follow established interpreter ethics.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate advanced proficiency in English and target language.
• Two years of related interpreting experience preferred.
• Certificate of National Recognized Interpreting Training.
• Ability to travel and maintain confidentiality.
• Criminal background check required.

Job description

A Language Bank Interpreter provides professional interpretation services to assist in the communication between people who are limited in their proficiency of the English language and service providers in judicial proceedings, health settings or social services venues.

• Renders the message faithfully; always conveying the content and spirit of the speaker, using the language most readily understood by the person(s) being served.
• Must be dependable, reliable and prompt at all times.
• Keeps all assignment-related information strictly confidential
• Ready to perform any of the three interpreting modes: consecutive, simultaneous and sight-translation at any point in time depending on the situation.
• Accepts assignments using discretion with regard to skill, setting and the clients involved.
• Functions in a manner appropriate to each interpreted situation; demonstrating professional appearance, conduct and promptness.
• Follows the interpreter code of Ethics for Medical and Legal settings designed by a recognized entity such as IMIA, NAJIT, NCIHC.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein to assist in meeting the goals of Ascentria and the department.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of college preferred.
• Demonstrate an advance proficiency level in English and target language.
• Ability to provide effective, accurate and impartial interpretation, both receptively and expressively of English to the target language and from the target language to English.
• Certificate of successfully completed National Recognized Interpreting Training
• Two years of related experience preferred.
• Acceptable criminal background check.
• Must be willing to travel and work a flexible schedule
