Job summary

Global Language Connections (GLC) is seeking experienced healthcare interpreters in the Milwaukee, WI area for 1099 independent contractor roles. You will interpret between patients and providers, maintain confidentiality, and travel between facilities within the service area.

Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and Hmong, Rohingya, and Burmese, with preferred national certification and reliable transportation to cover the assigned market.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in English and Hmong, Rohingya and Burmese.
• National certification preferred (CMI, CHI, 40-hour interpreter training or equivalent).
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the service area.
• HIPAA confidentiality and professional demeanor required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret accurately and impartially between patients and healthcare providers.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
• Complete interpreting encounter documentation as required.
• Respond to scheduling requests via GLC's scheduling platform.
• Travel between facilities within the assigned market as needed.

Global Language Connections is a professional language services company specializing in medical and healthcare interpretation. GLC connects hospitals, clinics, and health systems with qualified interpreters who deliver accurate, compassionate, and confidential language access to Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Deaf patients.

The Opportunity

GLC is recruiting experienced interpreters in the Milwaukee, WI area. This is a 1099 independent contractor role - you choose your availability and accept assignments that fit your schedule.

Contractor Pay Rate

$39–$44/hr (independent contractor rate). Actual rate based on language demand, certification, and experience.

What You'll Do

• Interpret accurately and impartially between patients and healthcare providers

Requirements

• Medical or healthcare interpreting experience preferred
• National certification (CMI, CHI, 40-hour interpreter training certificate, or equivalent) preferred
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the service area
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
• Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
