Job summary

La Red Health Center Inc. seeks a bilingual Interpreter to facilitate cross-cultural communication in our health center. The role translates between patients and clinicians, providing consecutive or simultaneous interpretation and written translation as needed.

Responsibilities include relaying diagnoses and questions, handling translation for Spanish-speaking patients, and maintaining accurate records. Must be able to work in a fast-paced clinical setting and adapt to flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Computer proficiency with Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with scanner operation preferred.

Job Summary:

The Interpreter’s role is to facilitate cross-cultural communication in the Health Center. Provides consecutive or simultaneous translation between languages. A health interpreter translates information between patients who speak limited English and health care providers. They interpret a patient's symptoms and medical history as well as questions from health care providers. A health interpreter also conveys diagnoses and treatment instructions in a culturally appropriate manner.

Work Environment:

Standard offices in Health Center. Controlled lighting, air quality, and temperature settings. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

Involves standing, walking, kneeling, bending, grasping, manipulating and squatting and lifting (up to 50 pounds). Walking or standing may be more than two (2) hours per day. Must be able to work in a standard medical office setting including use of a computer, and standard office equipment. Must have ability to read computer screens, printed materials and hearing and speech to communicate in person as well as over the phone. Must be able to attend meetings at various sites when required. Stress can be triggered by workload.
