This position exists to provide professional interpretation services both linguistically and culturally for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients, family members, CHNw clinicians/staff, and visitors in medical situations in alignment with CHNw mission, vision, PRIIDE values, and guiding principles.

Qualifications
  • Education: 2‑year associate degree preferred; a college degree is preferred. In lieu of the above, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Certification: One of the following is required – National Medical Interpreter Certification (NBCMI or CCHI) or (Hub‑CMI or CoreCHI).
  • Experience: 2+ years of full‑time employment/progressive experience as a medical interpreter in a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately provides VRI interpretation, telephonic interpretation, and in‑person interpretation as needed to LEP patients, families, and CHNw clinicians/staff into the specified language at multiple CHNw facilities, complying with Federal and State requirements and Joint Commission standards.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team across multiple CHNw facilities to ensure the highest standard of care for LEP patients, families, and providers, aligning with CHNw mission, vision, PRIIDE values, guiding principles, leadership philosophy, and strategic goals.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally in compliance with the language service operational guidelines at all times, reporting schedule changes to the Coordinator/Manager and collaborating on related tasks (e.g., confirming appointments, reviewing data, supporting special projects).
  • Identifies opportunities for quality improvement and actively enhances the site patient experience with creative latitude.
  • Attends professional development and continuing education on all topics related to medical interpreting (terminology, ethics, culture, note‑taking, etc.) to maintain certification and grow professionally.
  • Takes all annual required CHNw trainings and fulfills other HR‑requested training promptly, staying informed about organizational communications and updates.
