Job summary

U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a Park Ranger (Interpretation) with ICTAP/CTAP priority eligibility. The position is National Park Service‑wide with location negotiable within the United States.

Responsibilities include developing and presenting programs such as guided walks, talks, and demonstrations, and providing informal interpretation to park guests. Applicants must meet citizenship, background checks, and Selective Service requirements.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • ICTAP/CTAP priority eligibility for surplus/ displaced Federal employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and present a variety of programs including guided walks, illustrated talks and demonstrations.
  • Develop programs using the NPS interpretation model and deliver engaging talks and activities.
  • Provide informal interpretation and orientation for park guests in visitor centers, ranger stations, and in the field.
  • Perform cashier duties and assist with special projects to support park goals.
  • Promote visitor safety and stewardship of park resources; may handle accident reporting and emergency assistance.
  • GS-5 duties: present talks, lead tours, respond to visitor inquiries.
  • GS-7 duties: provide on-the-job training and assist teammates.
