Job summary

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is hiring an Interpretation Manager to oversee all aspects of its interpretive education program and engage guests in conservation messaging. You will train staff, coordinate theme days, and support exhibit messaging during design and planning.

Eligible candidates have five years in informal education within zoological settings and a strong background in conservation, ecology, and communication.

Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. degree in Education, Zoology, Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum five years in a zoological park, aquarium, museum, or other informal education setting.
• Strong knowledge of field conservation, ecology, and zoology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience writing and designing educational signage copy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of interpretive education programs.
• Train and supervise seasonal staff and interns.
• Coordinate and deliver theme day celebrations and exhibit messaging strategies.
• Develop and refine zoo-wide interpretive framework and narratives.
• Monitor and evaluate visitor experiences to improve programs.
