Job summary

Universal Destinations & Experiences in Orlando invites you to join our Ride Systems Engineering Internship Program. You will work alongside engineers, designers, and project partners to support ride system development across themed experiences.

Gain hands-on experience in engineering reviews, standards development, and safety procedures while contributing to cutting-edge ride technologies. This in-person, paid internship requires pursuing a degree with graduation after Aug 2027.

Qualifications

• In pursuit of a Bachelor or Graduate degree in Engineering with junior standing or higher.
• Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required; transcript required upon application.
• Engineering/technical focus preferred; hands-on ride-system exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings, review docs for standards compliance, help draft documentation.

JOB SUMMARY:

Help engineer the next generation of world-class attractions as a Ride Systems Engineering Intern with Universal Creative. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, designers, and project partners to support the development of ride systems used across a wide range of themed entertainment experiences.

Through hands-on project work, you will gain exposure to the engineering principles, industry standards, and technical processes that guide ride-system development. You will assist with the review and evaluation of ride designs, contribute to the development and refinement of engineering standards, and support new system strategy and innovation initiatives. Working across coaster, dark ride, family ride, thrill ride, and water ride projects, you will gain valuable insight into how multidisciplinary teams design, develop, and deliver safe, reliable, and innovative guest experiences. This internship offers an opportunity to build practical mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills while learning how cutting-edge ride technologies are brought to life.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assisting core ride leadership with day-to-day review of ride system designs, internal specification development, and assisting development of feasibility for new ride systems.
• Attend department meetings, review engineering documentation for compliance with industry standards, develop new contractual documentation, and assist with close out of open action items.
• Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• In pursuit of a Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
• Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
• A transcript is required upon application.

PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

• Preferred majors include: Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related.
• Preferred coursework completed: Statics, Dynamics, or similar. Relevant course work that supports themed entertainment technologies preferred.
• Experience with 3D modeling programs such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD,BIM360, and Navisworks.
• Engineering/technical focus desired.
• Technical communication and presentation skills.
• Strong Problem Solving Skills.
• Experienced in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

• This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
• Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than August 2027.
• Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
