Fire Solutions, Inc. in St. Louis is seeking a motivated undergraduate intern for Summer 2027 to shadow experienced Project Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, and Safety Professionals on design/build construction projects. You will participate in site visits, hands-on work, and safety training while supporting schedules, forecasts, and cost management.

This paid internship offers mentorship, real project exposure, and the chance to contribute to nationwide projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university.
• Foundational understanding of construction principles and practices.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
• Experience with subcontracts, subcontractors, or self-perform work is a plus.
• Ability to travel nationwide may be required.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with clients and subcontractors to support project success.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners to develop and maintain project schedules.
• Support creation of accurate project forecasts and budgets.
• Oversee cost management, change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation.
• Take ownership of project execution and delivery.
• Contribute to preconstruction planning, quality assurance, and safety initiatives.
• Assist senior project managers in overseeing construction activities.
• Provide leadership and guidance to support project teams.

The Role:

As an Intern you will have the opportunity to shadow experienced Project Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, and Safety Professionals. In this role you will be part of the team responsible for taking projects from the conceptual stages through the closeout of a project. You will experience active job site visits, hands on work experience, and valuable safety training.

Responsibilities:

• Cultivate strong relationships with clients and subcontractors to support project success
• Collaborate with engineers and planners to develop and maintain project schedules
• Support the creation of accurate project forecasts and budgets
• Oversee cost management, change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation
• Take ownership of project execution and delivery
• Contribute to preconstruction planning, quality assurance, and safety initiatives
• Assist senior project managers in overseeing construction activities
• You will have leadership and guidance to support project teams throughout all phases

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in anundergraduate program at an accredited university
• Foundational understanding of construction principles and practices
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a flexible, collaborative approach to working with diverse teams
• Experience with subcontracts, subcontractors, or self-perform work is a plus
• Creative, results-driven, and able to work with a sense of urgency
• Prior internship or project engineering experience on projects valued at $5 million or more (design-build experience preferred)
• Committed to upholding and promoting a Safety-First culture
• Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically capable of navigating active construction sites, including walking, climbing ladders, and accessing multi-floor scaffolding
• Fast-paced work environment—appropriate job site footwear and attire required
• Projects are located nationwide; travel may be required
