Job summary

Eaton is offering a Software Engineering Internship at its Plymouth, MN site. The 12-week paid program gives hands-on experience within a multi-disciplined product engineering team developing real-time control software using .NET and C#.

You’ll contribute to feature development for power system devices, participate in unit testing, reviews, and CI/CD pipelines while learning from senior engineers at Eaton’s Thomas A. Edison Technical Center.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in or graduated from a computer engineering, software engineering, or computer science program.
• GPA requirements: 2.8+; preferred 3.2+.
• Experience with .NET, C# and related UX/UI concepts is a plus.

Are you ready?The Software Engineering Intern is an integral part of multi-disciplined new product engineering team at Eaton’s Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Plymouth, MN. In this role, you will assist in the development of interface software for high performance, real-time controls and protective relays used for smart grid applications in the electrical power distribution industry.Our engineering teams are passionate about designing products and services that are more efficient, reliable, safe, and sustainable. With five Eaton facilities and more than 1900+ employees located in Wisconsin, Eaton’s local footprint enables our employees with state-of-the-art laboratories and access to manufacturing that allows us to deliver robust solutions to our utility, commercial and industrial customers.In this role you will:• Implement features to configure, monitor, and update power system intelligent electronic devices, including advanced UX design, IDE development, graphical data representation and display, communication protocols, cybersecurity, and other relay, control and monitoring functions using .NET and C#.• Implement designs based on product and interface requirements with guidance from lead software engineers.• Work with functional managers, systems engineers, and lead software engineers to distill product/system requirements/use cases to software stories, developing module and system level code, and unit tests.• Participate in tasks related to new product development including planning, task/story estimation, programming, unit testing, peer review, integration and release.• Participate in the analysis and specification of software subsystems.• Implement tests in support of developer testing activities and integration with Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines.• Participate in design and code reviews.Qualifications:Required Qualifications:• Actively enrolled in or received a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science at an accredited institution with a graduation date no earlier than December 2027.• Minimum GPA of 2.8 or above.• Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
