Job summary

General Mills in the United States is offering a 10-week Manufacturing & Engineering Associate internship designed to prepare you for the MEA development program after graduation. As an MEA Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with processing, packaging and broad manufacturing systems, work on 24/7 production environments, and develop coaching, leadership and project-management skills.

Applicants must be enrolled in an engineering program and graduate Winter 2027 or Spring 2028.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering fields.
• Pursuing Milling Science or Food Science related degree.
• Graduating in Winter 2027 or Spring 2028.

Responsibilities

• Build capability through exposure to processing, packaging and manufacturing systems.
• Gain front-line exposure to 24/7 production and drive improvements.
• Learn from Operators, Technicians and Mechanics to develop leadership skills.
• Manage programs to gain experience in capital projects and new system startups.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF MANUFACTURING AT GENERAL MILLS?

General Mills' Supply Chain is one of the most respected supply chains in the industry today. Manufacturing is the sub-function of Global Supply Chain that makes food the world loves. Manufacturing takes raw materials and transforms them into the products we sell to customers. Products are packaged in a variety of formats for sale to grocery, clubs, and food service.

WHAT WILL I DO?

As a Manufacturing and Engineering Associate (MEA) Intern, you will experience a robust 10-week internship with hopes that you'll roll into our full-time MEA development program upon graduation. The internship is designed to prepare you for both technical and managerial leadership roles within General Mills.

• Build your capability through exposure and ownership of processing, packaging and broad manufacturing systems.
• Gain front line exposure to 24/7 production to leverage problem solving and learning agility while driving improvements and eliminating losses.
• Learn from and lead Operators, Technicians and Mechanics to grow your coaching, team building and people-development skills set.
• Manage programs to gain experience in capital project ownership, new system startups and / or initiative leadership.

WHERE WILL I WORK?

You will be placed at one of our manufacturing plant locations nationwide.

IS THIS YOU?

Minimum Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Engineering degree in: Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Food Process or Biological/Biosystems/Agricultural, or related degree
• Qualifications for MEA Milling roles: Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Milling Science, Food Science, or related degree
• Graduating in Winter 2027 or Spring 2028

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong academic record
• Strong interpersonal skills, high learning agility, analytical and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated people, technical, and process leadership skills, with a proactive approach to taking initiative and contributing to team success

The hourly rate for this position is $28.85/hour. General Mills strives to provide fair and competitive pay that reflects your skills, experience, and academic background. The pay for this role considers many factors, including, but not limited to, your degree program, major, and year in school.
