Job summary

The HEI Internship Program is a 10 - 12 week fast track development opportunity for college students to expand their knowledge in the hospitality industry.

The Intern will spend their program immersing themselves into the Housekeeping discipline by shadowing critical leaders, attending operational meetings and working alongside the associates and leadership team that ensure the day-to-day success of the department.

Qualifications

  • Recent or current graduate of a hospitality program preferred.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow identified leaders within the Housekeeping department at the hotel.
  • Shadow each shift and each position within the Housekeeping department at the hotel.
  • Consistently attend department meetings within Housekeeping as well as any leadership meetings at the hotel.
  • Become proficient with operating the PMS and all other systems used by the Housekeeping department.
  • Utilize labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs.
  • Interact positively with customers and take action to resolve problems to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Room Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Overview

The objective of this program is to provide you with a foundation that will prepare you for a long-term career within the hospitality industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently attend department meetings within Housekeeping as well as any leadership meetings at the hotel.
  • Become proficient with operating the PMS and all other systems used by the Housekeeping department.

  • Interact positively with customers and take action to resolve problems to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Recent or current graduate of a hospitality program preferred.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public, etc.
