Job summary

Revel is seeking a Forward Deployed Test Engineering Intern to work at the intersection of software, hardware, and testing. You will help integrate Revel with customer test stands, build test infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and develop dashboards and workflows.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with systems in aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing, learning how software, hardware, sensors, and data acquisition come together in real‑world environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist deploying and integrating Revel with customer test stands and existing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with customer teams to understand test processes and identify improvements.
• Build and maintain test infrastructure, dashboards, and software workflows.
• Develop RevelCode and other software to automate testing processes.
• Support data acquisition, telemetry, and hardware validation efforts.
• Troubleshoot issues across software, networking, firmware, hardware, and test systems.
• Contribute to real‑world test campaigns and document outcomes.
• Provide training and documentation for new users of Revel.
• Collaborate with internal teams to turn field learnings into product improvements.
• Occasionally travel to customer sites with the team.

The Internship

As a Forward Deployed Test Engineering Intern at Revel, you’ll work at the intersection of software, hardware, and testing to help our customers build and operate better test systems.

You’ll work alongside our Forward Deployed Engineering and Software teams to integrate Revel with customer test stands, build test infrastructure, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, develop dashboards and workflows, and help engineering teams get more out of their test operations.

You’ll get hands‑on exposure to the systems behind aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing. You’ll learn how software, hardware, sensors, data acquisition systems, and test infrastructure come together in real‑world environments—and how to diagnose problems when things don't work as expected.

This is a highly technical, hands‑on internship. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, take ownership of meaningful projects, and have the opportunity to see your work used with real hardware.

What You'll Do

• Help deploy and integrate Revel with customer test stands, sensors, actuators, and existing infrastructure

• Work alongside customer engineering teams to understand their test processes and identify opportunities to improve them

• Build and maintain test infrastructure, dashboards, and software workflows

• Write RevelCode and other software to automate and streamline testing

• Support data acquisition, telemetry, and hardware validation efforts

• Troubleshoot issues across software, networking, firmware, hardware, and physical test systems

• Help run and support test campaigns in real-world hardware environments

• Deliver training and documentation to help new users get up and running with Revel

• Collaborate with internal software and product teams to turn field learnings into product improvements

• Occasionally travel to customer sites with the team

What We're Looking For

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field

• Rising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028

• Hands‑on experience with engineering projects involving hardware, software, testing, or instrumentation

• Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills

• Basic programming experience in Python, C, C++, or another programming language

• Basic understanding of how software, hardware, sensors, and networks interact

• Interest in test engineering, embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other hardware‑focused environments

• Comfortable getting hands‑on with physical hardware and troubleshooting problems in real‑world environments

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Curious, self‑directed, and excited to learn from experienced engineers

• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment

• US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement)

Bonus Points

• Experience with data acquisition systems, test stands, instrumentation, or test automation

• Experience with sensors, actuators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, or other test equipment

• Experience with PLCs, control systems, NI software suite, TwinCAT, or CodeSys

• Experience building or maintaining test infrastructure through academic, personal, or previous internship projects

• Experience with embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other hardware‑focused projects

• Proficiency in C, C++, Python, Rust, or other systems programming languages

• Familiarity with networking and debugging communication between hardware and software

• Startup experience and passion for aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or robotics
