Job summary

Novo Nordisk A/S is offering an internship as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer Intern at our site in North Carolina. The ten-week program provides hands-on experience in a global pharmaceutical company, with instructor-led trainings, leadership engagements, and lunch-and-learn sessions.

Responsibilities include collecting EHS data, updating procedures, and supporting sustainability initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree.
• Engineering, Environmental Science, and/or Occupational Safety majors preferred.
• Must be a rising junior, or rising senior with a 3.0 GPA or above.
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word and other MS Office applications.

The Program

At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor-led trainings, a leadership engagement series, as well as insightful lunch and learns.

Program Start: May 17, 2027

Program End: July 23, 2027

Scope of Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer Intern will support site environmental, health, and safety initiatives to strengthen operations and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing EHS data, assisting with the update and maintenance of procedural documentation, supporting EHS training programs, and contributing to process improvement efforts. The intern will also help advance sustainability initiatives and support adherence to applicable environmental and safety regulations across the site.

In addition, where applicable, the intern will support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities by applying engineering technical skills to develop process maps and draft technical summaries. The intern will participate in process hazard analysis efforts and contribute to enhancing chemical safety across the site.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree.
• Engineering, Environmental Science, and/or Occupational Safety majors preferred.
• Must be a rising junior, or rising senior with a 3.0 GPA or above.
• Excellent computer skills to include Proficiency in Excel, Word & familiarity/capability in most other Microsoft Office applications.
