Job summary

IHC Construction Companies, L.L.C. invites Engineering or Construction Management students to join our Heavy Construction Division or Building Division for a summer internship in Chicagoland. You will work with project teams on activities ranging from excavation to MEP coordination and learn owner-provided PM software.

Internship lasts approximately 3 months. Interns must arrange transportation and housing; eligible interns may access our employer-paid health care plan and, on return, possibly

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management program.
• Strong MS Office skills and ability to learn PM software.
• Knowledge of 3D Modeling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams in Heavy Construction and Building divisions.
• Support excavation, piling, earth retention, cast-in-place concrete and underground utilities work.
• Coordinate MEP activities and support project documentation.

If you are an Engineering or Construction Management Student seeking internship employment at IHC you will be part of the one of the project teams in our Heavy Construction Division, which includes work for METRA, IDOT, the Chicago Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, and various Municipalities, or our Building Division (School Construction, Libraries, Park Districts, and various Government Agencies).

Typical project schedule work items taking place during the summer period are: Excavation/Backfilling, Piling Installation, Earth Retention System Installation, Cast in Place Concrete, Underground Utility Installation, and MEP Coordination.

Applicant should have good organizational skills, be proficient in MS Office programs, and be capable of learning Owner provided Project Management software. Knowledge of 3D Modeling is preferable.

Summer internships last approximately 3 months.
Intern is responsible for his/her transportation and housing.
Full-time interns who meet the eligibility requirements are eligible for participation in our employer-paid health care plan (consisting of medical, dental vision, and prescription). Returning interns may be immediately eligible for our 401k and Profit-Sharing Plan.
