Job summary

Brightlabs invites final-year BSc HBO or MSc students for a 6-month full-time internship in a dynamic analytical laboratory. You will join projects across pharmaceuticals, food, water & soil, and industrial applications, applying and developing methods in collaboration with experienced scientists.

You will work on Sweet Insights: Advanced Sugar Analysis and Advanced Pesticide Profiling using HPLC, ELSD, and GC-MS/MS, with opportunities to validate methods according to industry guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Final-year BSc (HBO) or MSc student in analytical chemistry or related field.
  • Available for a 6-month full-time internship.
  • Laboratory experience and hands-on mentality.
  • English and Dutch language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply methods to analyze sugars in foods using HPLC/ELSD.
  • Develop pesticide analysis methods using HPLC/GC-MS/MS.
  • Validate methods per industry guidelines.
  • Collaborate with clients and team on projects.

We at Brightlabs have an exciting internship position available for a Bachelor (HBO) student with previous internship experience or a Master's (MSc) student with a hands-on mentality. The ideal candidate has laboratory experience and is eager to work in a dynamic environment, collaborating on projects for clients from diverse fields to solve a variety of analytical challenges. These include projects in pharmaceuticals, food, water & soil, and industrial applications.

Assignments Currently Available

Sweet Insights: Advanced Sugar Analysis

You will be developing and applying analytical chemistry methods to characterize a wide array of sugars in food ingredients, beverages, and food using different techniques including a focus on HPLC connected to an Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD), other detectors are also available. After developing methods, there will be the possibility to validate these methods according to industry standard guidelines for validation.

Advanced Pesticide Profiling

You will be developing novel methods for pesticide analysis on different kinds of foods. The main starting point will be HPLC and GC with MS/MS. After developing methods, there will be the possibility to validate these methods according to industry standard guidelines for validation.

Profile
  • Final-year BSc (HBO) or MSc student with a hands-on mentality, specializing in laboratory-focused studies such as (analytical) chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, food sciences, or a related field
  • Available for a 6-month internship, full-time (5 days per week)
  • Passionate about working in an analytical laboratory environment
  • Strong communication skills in English and Dutch (for convenience)
