Responsibilities

Engineering Resources, Inc. offers internships in all locations, which include Fort Wayne, Bluffton, and Carmel, Indiana.

Engineering Resources, Inc. offers paid summer internships for individuals who will be or are currently studying in the following service areas of our firm: civil-site, municipal, structural, and transportation engineering services, as well as landscape architecture and construction observation services.

Our internship program is designed to provide students with hands‑on experience and real‑world exposure to the engineering industry while fostering professional growth and development. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, engage in innovative projects, and receive mentorship from experienced professionals.

The daily job focus will include exposure to our day‑to‑day operations and application of technical education in practice to gain experience in the following areas:

Engineering Intern / Landscape Architect Intern / Design Intern: Supports other Project Team members and exhibits the following proficiencies:

1. Develop a basic understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
2. Advance in technical knowledge and experience.
3. Develop written and oral communication skills.
4. Demonstrate basic competency in assigned tasks, which may include:
   1. Performing routine technical work that does not require previous experience.
   2. Assisting with standard computations and analysis.
   3. Collecting data and gathering information, and documents.
   4. Basic drafting / completing mark‑ups.
   5. Performing quantity take‑offs.
   6. Administrative help, including making copies and deliveries.
   7. Attending project and construction meetings as directed in a supporting role. h. Reviewing submittals.
   8. Performing basic construction observation work as needed.

Construction Observation Intern: Supports the Construction Observers and Project Team and exhibits the following proficiencies:

1. Develop a basic understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
2. Advanced technical knowledge and experience.
3. Develop written and oral communication skills.
4. Demonstrate basic competency in assigned tasks, which may include:
   a. Assisting with oversight of construction projects.
   b. Monitoring and documenting construction progress.
   c. Ensuring adherence to contract terms.
   d. Assisting with the evaluation of change orders, field orders, and RFIs.
