Job summary

Brigham Young University seeks an International Student and Scholar Specialist to guide students, scholars, and faculty through federal visa requirements and university policies. As a DSO/ARO, you will ensure compliance, provide tailored advising, and support academic and cultural integration across BYU’s campuses.

You will teach the STDEV 120 Visa Law course, develop materials, assess student work, and coordinate with offices to uphold regulatory standards while fostering student success and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field (or enrollment in related master’s program) and at least three years of related full-time experience.
• Experience in higher education compliance settings and with international students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review visa applications and issue required documents (I-20, DS-2019) in compliance with federal regulations.
• Monitor F- and J-visa compliance throughout stays and report violations.
• Coordinate with government officials and institutions; maintain detailed visa decision records.
• Provide advising and development support to international students and scholars; identify at-risk students and connect them with campus resources.
