Job Location: Washington Headquarters - Washington, DC

Salary Range: $44.55 - $44.55Hourly

Primary Responsibilities

• Researches, writes and produces original news and feature content and programming as assigned for use in broadcast and digital media platforms.
• Responsibilities include gathering information, conducting interviews, writing scripts and presenting the stories live or as part of recorded radio, television or digital audio/video packages. Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories.
• Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned.
• Versions content produced in the Korean language into English for distribution, as assigned. Fluency in Korean is mandatory and a requirement for the position.
• Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media coverage and segments as assigned
• Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others
• Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, covering breaking news, events and or feature stories.
• Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned
• Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned
• Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others
• Contributes finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned
• Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned
• Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed
• Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines
• Serves as videographer/reporter, as assigned
• Serves as anchor/program host as assigned
• Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements
• Works independently or as a member of a team
• Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned
• Has specialized knowledge including formal education in a field desired by VOA, regularly demonstrating that added ability through the performance of his/her duties
• Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOAs digital asset management system
• Other related duties as assigned
