Job summary

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) seeks a versatile news producer/anchor for the New York bureau. The role involves writing and producing content for broadcasts, managing live program timing, and conducting/producing interviews for on-air use.

Responsibilities include translating content between English and target languages, producing material for radio, TV, and web, and refining copy to meet VOA standards.

Responsibilities

• Writes and produces news and feature content and programming as assigned for use in broadcasts and web and social media
• As assigned, during programs, serves as line producer and manages the timing and order of stories included in broadcasts
• Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories
• Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned
• Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned
• Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned
• Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others
• Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned
• Edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories
• Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines
• Serves as videographer/reporter, as assigned
• Serves as anchor/program host as assigned
• Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements
• Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned
• Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOAs digital asset management system

Salary Range: $49.01 - $49.01 Hourly

This position is for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News and may include eligibility for health, dental, vision, and life insurance, overtime, paid time off, sick leave, and the possibility of performance-based bonuses.

All personal service contractors must pass a thorough background check.

• Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned
• Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed
• Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines
• Serves as videographer/reporter, as assigned
• Serves as anchor/program host as assigned
• Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements
• Works independently or as a member of a team
• Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned
• Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOAs digital asset management system
• Other related duties as assigned
