Position Summary

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), an R1 Carnegie-classified public research university and a national leader in access and student success, seeks an International Graduate Admissions Recruiter to advance the university’s strategic goal of growing self-paying international graduate enrollment.

Housed within the Office of International Programs & Study Abroad (OIPSA) and its International Enrollment Management (IEM) team, this position designs and executes recruitment strategy across priority markets, with an emphasis on South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka) and the U.S.–Mexico border region.

The Recruiter builds and sustains relationships with prospective students, families, sponsoring institutions, and EducationUSA advising centers, and partners closely with The Graduate School and academic colleges to convert inquiries into enrolled, degree‑seeking master’s and doctoral students. Success in this role requires cultural fluency, responsiveness across time zones, and an understanding that in many of UTEP’s core markets, the decision to pursue graduate study is a family decision.

Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities
International Graduate Recruitment Strategy & Enrollment Management (30%)
  • Develop and execute market‑specific recruitment plans for international graduate students, prioritizing self‑paying master’s‑level pathway enrollment aligned with university strategic goals.
  • Analyze recruitment, inquiry, and yield data to evaluate market performance, forecast enrollment, and refine strategy — contributing to the IEM team’s data‑analytics efforts.
Student Recruitment, Advising & Yield Management (25%)
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective international graduate students throughout the funnel — inquiry, application, admission, visa (F/J), and yield — providing timely, warm, and accurate guidance.
  • Cultivate relationships with students’ families, recognizing the central role families play in the college decision in Hispanic, Mexican, and South Asian communities.
  • Cherish and steward every student contact as a recruitment asset, maintaining meticulous records in the CRM and ensuring prompt, personalized follow‑up.
  • Collaborate with International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) to ensure a smooth transition from admitted applicant to enrolled F/J visa holder.
International Partnerships & Outreach (20%)
  • Build and maintain partnerships with overseas institutions, EducationUSA centers, sponsoring agencies, and feeder universities to create articulation and student‑mobility pathways.
  • Represent UTEP at international education fairs, EducationUSA roadshows, institutional visits, and virtual recruitment events, often across differing time zones and outside standard business hours.
  • Support campus‑wide recruitment capacity by training and equipping partner offices to handle international inquiries appropriately and confidently.
Marketing, Communications & Campus Collaboration (15%)
  • Collaborate and work closely with Marketing and Communications, serving as the lead for all graduate‑related marketing materials and messaging across priority international markets.
  • Partner with The Graduate School and academic departments to align program offerings, assistantship and funding messaging, and admissions criteria with recruitment strategy.
Data, CRM & Immigration/Compliance Support (10%)
  • Maintain meticulous and timely CRM records for prospective and admitted international graduate students, ensuring accurate documentation and personalized follow‑up throughout the recruitment funnel.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
  • Collaborate with International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) to support immigration‑related processes and ensure a smooth transition from admitted applicant to enrolled F/J visa holder.
  • Contribute to recruitment data analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support enrollment management decision‑making.
