Job summary

Description

The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin ("LBJ School") invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Advanced Assistant Professor of International Economic Policy to begin in Fall of academic year 2027-28 (with an August 2027 start date). One of the nation's top programs in public affairs, the LBJ School is seeking to strengthen its faculty in international economics and trade.

This faculty would support teaching in the Ph.D. in Public Policy, Master of National Security, Master of Global Policy Studies, and/or Bachelor of Arts and Master in Public Affairs. The appointee would teach courses on topics such as international economics and trade, international finance and monetary policy, development economics and industrial policy. Topics related to direct foreign investment, supply chain resilience, and commercial diplomacy would also be valued.

Faculty research may focus on trade, geoeconomics, development economics, economic geography, international political economy, international macroeconomics and finance, labor economics of migration and remittances, global value chains and supply chain economics, foreign direct investment and multinationals, trade and climate, industrial policy.

Candidates with prior applied policy research or related work experience will be viewed in a positive light in the search process. The appointee will conduct and publish scholarly research and seek grant opportunities in support of their research and/or teaching activities. The appointee will participate in faculty governance at the LBJ School.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Political Economy, Political Science, or a related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered if the doctoral degree will be completed by the time of employment. Experience in college teaching and evidence of scholarship or scholarly potential is preferred.
