Job summary

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office is seeking a Deputy in the Investigative Support Unit to analyze video footage, monitor live feeds, and assist in locating suspects. The role requires POST certification, firearms qualification, and strong analytical and communication skills.

The Deputy will support all criminal divisions, gather evidence, and prepare comprehensive reports while engaging with the public and testifying in court when required. This is a demanding, on-site position in Baton Rouge.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyze video footage and investigative programs to identify and locate suspects.
• Monitor radio traffic for in-progress calls and broadcast information to deputies.
• Monitor live video footage and relay information on suspicious activity.
• Assist investigations in identifying suspect vehicles.
• Monitor ALPRs to locate wanted persons or vehicles.
• Gather evidence to substantiate charges and assist detectives in reviewing footage.
• Complete and oversee special projects as assigned by the Captain.
• Write detailed reports on complaints, evidence, and investigations.
• Make lawful arrests and testify in court when required.
• Answer questions from the public and provide information as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

• Supports all Criminal Divisions on existing cases by analyzing and interpreting video footage and investigative programs to assist in identifying and locating suspects.
• Monitors radio traffic for in-progress calls, searches video footage and broadcasts any available information to responding Deputies.
• Monitors live video footage for suspicious activity and relays information to Deputies in the area.
• Assist all criminal divisions in identifying suspect vehicles.
• Monitor ALPRs for patterns to locate wanted persons or vehicles.
• Provide any assistance needed by Investigating Deputies in reviewing video footage, identifying vehicles, and locating suspects using available programs.
• Completes, manages, and oversees special projects as assigned by the Captain.
• Gathers evidence necessary to substantiate charges.
• Assist detectives in collecting video evidence for the public when needed.
• Writes detailed reports regarding complaints, evidence, and other investigative information.
• Make lawful and legal arrests of those who violate the law.
• Appears as a witness in court, as necessary.
• Answers questions from the public.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess the ability to handle complex subject matter such as crimes against children.
• Must have patience and the ability to empathize with traumatized victims.
• No disciplinary suspensions within the last 6 months; the selection committee will review all other disciplinary or corrective actions.
• Basic Law Enforcement P.O.S.T. Certified
• Firearms qualified
