Job summary

St. Mary's Hospital – Kankakee, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for a 12-week assignment in the Emergency Department.

This PRN, nights, temporary role offers a flat-rate compensation of $60.00 per hour and exposure to a high-volume ED environment. The RN will provide direct patient care, coordinate with physicians, and ensure patient safety while adhering to EMTALA and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Active state RN license required.
• Current BLS, ALS, and PALS/ENPC certifications are required or maintained.
• CEN certification preferred; BSN degree preferred.
• EDRN or MICN and TNCC/NRP certifications within specified timelines are expected.
• Traumatic certifications may be required depending on trauma designation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition and test results.
• Respond quickly to changes in condition and ensure confidentiality and EMTALA compliance.

Assignment Details:

The assignment is expected to last 12 weeks; however, staffing needs will be evaluated on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted based on operational requirements.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.

2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3. Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.

5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.

6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current

2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education

3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.

4. Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain. Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.

Pay Transparency

St. Mary's Hospital – Kankakee offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $60. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
