Job summary

Continental in Sumter, SC seeks a quality-focused grader to uphold product standards through inspection, testing, and defect prevention. You will investigate non-conformities in collaboration with QA and Production teams and monitor in-process quality to drive corrective actions.

Responsibilities include applying SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP, MSA, and ISO/TS 16949 methods, utilizing Excel for data tracking, and ensuring adherence to QA policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be a current certified grader at Continental Tire Sumter for a minimum of 2 years.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
• Must pass titmus vision exam.
• This is an internal only position; external applicants will not be considered.
• No relocation assistance is offered for this position.

• Apply quality management methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP, MSA, and ISO/TS 16949.
• Communicate effectively, follow procedures, and use problem-solving skills for continuous improvement.
• Be self-managed, detail-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure.
• Follow all plant, ESH, CBS, quality, and department processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Ensures product quality by monitoring manufacturing processes, investigating and resolving non-conformities, and supporting compliance with quality standards. Utilizes quality tools, data analysis, and inspection procedures to prevent defects and drive continuous improvement.

• Ensure the quality of compounds, components, and tires through inspection, testing, and defect prevention activities.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve non-conformities, including determining product dispositions in collaboration with Quality Management and Production teams.
• Monitor in-process quality characteristics, perform required over-inspections, and document corrective actions.
• Verify compliance with quality assurance policies, procedures, and error-proofing requirements.
• Utilize measurement tools, data collection systems, and Microsoft Excel to track and analyze quality performance.
• Apply quality management methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP, MSA, and ISO/TS 16949 standards.
• Communicate effectively, follow established procedures, and use problem-solving skills to support continuous quality improvement.
• Be self-managed, detail-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure
• Follow all plant, ESH, CBS, quality, and department processes and procedures
• Other duties as assigned
