Yankee Ridge Multilingual School in Urbana, Illinois is seeking After School Programming Support Staff to assist with small-group instruction, supervise students, and reinforce daily skills after the regular school day.

This hourly position runs September 8, 2026 to April 29, 2027, Tuesday through Thursday, with hours set by the coordinator/building administrator. The role reports to the teacher(s) and program director, with a stipend for the period.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in a school setting is required.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions and reteach information to students in the program.
• Participate in the program and support daily instruction and tasks.
• Supervise students and maintain positive relationships with staff.
• Seek guidance from teachers/coordinators when needed.
• Monitor areas of the school and manage behavior support.
• Handle attendance, snack counts, and program arrival/departure.

TITLE: After School Programming Support Staff (Multiple Positions Available)

LOCATION: Yankee Ridge Multilingual Elementary

SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the teacher(s), coordinator, building administration and/or Director of Grants.

SUPERVISES: Students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

• Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
• Actively participate in the program, contribute to daily instruction, and complete all assigned tasks.
• Initiate and encourage students attending the program. Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
• Ask for guidance and assistance from the teacher and/or coordinator when unable to assist a student.
• Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
• Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior
• Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
• Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
• Work with small groups on skill-building activities
• Perform other specialized duties as assigned. (i.e. taking attendance, snack counts, program arrival and departure times)

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

• Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience working in a school setting
• Prior experience working for USD 116 Afterschool Program is preferred

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.

This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in nature.
