Job summary

Defense Health Agency is seeking an Internal Medicine physician for a Direct Hire position at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The physician will provide comprehensive primary care to active duty personnel and their families, support readiness, and teach medical learners in ambulatory and inpatient settings.

Qualified candidates will have an MD/DO, active license, and residency in Internal Medicine (4+ years). Board certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from US/Canada or equivalent with required licensing.
• Current, active physician license in a US state or territory.
• Residency training in Internal Medicine with at least 4 years of accredited residency.
• Board certification in Internal Medicine preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate laboratory and clinical findings, differentiate among causes, and prescribe appropriate treatment.
• Document patient care accurately and completely.
• Follow through on cases to ensure effectiveness and adjust treatment as indicated.
• Collaborate with specialists on interrelated problems.
• Provide primary care to active duty personnel and their families to support readiness.
• Assist soldiers and commanders with fitness-for-duty evaluations, physicals, profiles, and referrals.
• Contribute to teaching of medical learners through lectures and bedside teaching.
• Instruct and train medical interns in internal medicine and related areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
