Job description

Description: Position is four days a week, day off to be determined, with limited weekend call rotation through 2026.

SUMMARY

The Advanced Practice Clinician will provide health care services to adult patients, covering a wide range of health issues from chronic disease to complex acute conditions. Close collaboration with Internal Medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals. Performs thorough patient assessments, develops treatment plans, and delivers evidence-based medical care. The responsibilities also extend to preventive care, patient education, and coordinating with specialists to ensure comprehensive treatment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Examines patient, takes medical history, records results and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures. Administers and orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, Electrocardiograms and blood work. Interprets test results.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as immunizations, injections, suturing, wound care, and managing infection.
  • Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
  • Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients and records progress.
  • Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations.
  • Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Participates in on-call weekend rotation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Physician Assistant: Licensed by the state of Wisconsin as a Physician Assistant. Active certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Nurse Practitioner: Registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin and active certification through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Board (AANPCB).
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience as a PA-C or APNP in clinic setting; urgent care or emergency medicine experience is required.
  • BLS certification and DEA registration required from approved program.
  • Prescriptive authorization.
  • Proficiency with medical instruments and equipment required to perform your work.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • A sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Candidate should be comfortable with autonomy and independent decision making.
  • Candidate will function as a member of a care team, seeing patients for chronic disease management, preventive care, health promotion and acute care.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creating patient care plans and contributing to existing ones.
  • Monitoring and operating medical equipment.
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
  • Administering medicine and other treatments as necessary.
  • Detecting changes in patients’ health and modifying treatments as necessary.
  • Knowledge of disease prevention.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
