Job description

The University at Buffalo (UB), Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, in partnership with the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC), is seeking a dedicated Internal Medicine Primary Care Physician to join our Internal Medicine Center—a vital academic practice located in Buffalo, New York.

This position offers a unique opportunity to practice comprehensive, team-based primary care within a safety-net teaching hospital that serves a diverse and medically complex patient population. As a full-time faculty member, the successful candidate will play a key role in resident education, continuity clinic precepting, and quality improvement initiatives within a fully integrated academic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient primary care for adult patients within ECMC’s Internal Medicine Center.
  • Supervise and teach internal medicine residents throughout their three-year residency program, serving as a clinical preceptor and mentor.
  • Participate in didactic teaching, curriculum development, and faculty meetings to advance the academic mission.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, pharmacy, behavioral health, and care coordination to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Engage in quality improvement, scholarly activities, and clinical initiatives aligned with UB and ECMC’s mission to improve health outcomes across Western New York.
  • Support population health and preventive medicine efforts within an NCQA-recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home model.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York.
  • Commitment to academic medicine, teaching excellence, and serving a diverse patient community.
  • Prior experience in an academic or teaching environment preferred but not required.
  • Competitive academic salary commensurate with experience. Range $220k-$270k.
