Job summary

Qualifications

Primary Responsibility

Oversee the operation of transporting products and services to customers through effective leadership and direction to the delivery team
The Delivery Manager will also develop and implement recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations, including reducing transportation costs, increasing on-time delivery, and increasing customer satisfaction.

Other Responsibilities

Maintain a clean and presentable appearance at all times. Represent the Company and provide excellent customer service at all levels and warm& helpful attitude. Loading and unloading, delivering goods to the customer’s delivery point in accordance with manual handling and health & safety training. Deal with all the delivery team personnel queries offering solutions when necessary.

List areas of daily and long-term responsibilities

• Work closely with logistics team to provide recommendations for efficiencies and capacities
• Manage dispatch of routes to delivery personnel
• Ensure deliveries are received promptly, correctly and are stored in the customer delivery point with least number of movements
• Monitor and improve productivity and quality whilst decreasing error probability
• Deal with all transport personnel queries offering solutions
• Ensure Drivers adhere to tachograph regulations as outlined by the DVSA.
• Allocate mobile device and equipment, investigating any damages and taking necessary action
• Ensure there is effective communication amongst teams
• Attend and provide feedback in management meetings

Human Resources

• Deal with recruitment such as interviewing potential staff, selecting and offering jobs
• Monitor staff performance and conduct appraisals, performance reviews, and probationary meetings
• Manage employee relationship issues
• Set employee attendance and payments to the system accurately and on time

Training

• Encourage and support employees to participate in the training
• Observe the results and provide feedback to contribute to the evaluation process

Health and Safety

• Resolve health & safety, legal and security issues
• Ensure workplace and work equipment are safe for workers, visitors and contractors.
• Ensure that employees are trained on how to do their job and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines
• Ensure that accidents are investigated and corrective actions taken to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure good housekeeping, and company properties are in good order. Report any damage of the company property to the relevant department

Other

• Provide feedback to enhance product performance and service delivery
• Seek to improve relations with regard to the provision of efficient communications to facilitate product development and issue management
• To ensure that the company internal/external customer care & equal opportunity policies are adhered to at all times.

• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business requirements
• Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably expected of the role and as necessary in order to achieve the objectives of the department and JJ Food Service goals.

Education

Bachelor degree in a business/transport/distribution or logistics related subject is preferable.

Relevant work experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements

Lifting: The job will involve manual handling (lifting or moving products or equipment). You will be provided with training to undertake manual handling safely, using the equipment provided where necessary.

Physical requirements: pushing, pulling the trolley to carry the above items occasionally.

Equipment: you will be trained to use appropriate equipment depending on the load you are required to lift.
