Job summary

ECU Health in Greenville, NC is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to build and execute internal communications strategies across Shared Services, system executives and Medical Center leadership. You will lead content development for leader newsletters, town halls and intranet channels, while partnering with Marketing, HR and IT teams to inform, engage and inspire staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a communications role.
  • Minimum of two years' experience copy writing and editing content.
  • Minimum of three years' experience using Microsoft Office, specifically in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum of one years' experience with intranet or website platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a collaborative team player, contributing ideas, feedback and support to shared projects, campaigns and strategic initiatives.
  • Help foster a culture of openness, transparency and inclusion through communication that builds trust and strengthens internal relationships.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications team to ensure alignment of strategy, messaging and communications timelines, including tactical support of the organization's crisis communication planning and response.
  • Develop communications strategies and plans that advance and elevate ECU Health's culture and brand.
  • Develop stories that showcase ECU Health's accomplishments, high-quality care, successes and achievements to foster pride and purpose across teams.
  • Translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging for internal audiences through various mediums (to include written copy, simple infographics and short-form video).
  • Champions and articulates the organization's Mission, Vision, Values and brand voice in all verbal, written, audio and visual communications.
  • Understand and be able to articulate health system goals and strategic plans; develop knowledge of health care industry issues and trends and integrate these themes into leadership communications where relevant.
  • Produce effective, authentic, relevant and well-researched content for a wide range of formats, events and audiences.
  • Look for and seek understanding of connections and overlaps among stories/projects and audience perspectives.
  • Partner with the Creative, Multimedia, Digital, Marketing and PR teams to enhance storytelling through visual and interactive formats.
  • Support efforts to track content performance and make data-driven decisions and improvements.
  • Manage, provide content and update internal platforms such as intranet pages/sites, newsletters, digital signage, internal communications mobile platform (The Current), town halls, etc.
  • Utilize data insights to inform communication planning, audience segmentation and channel optimization as well as provide strategic communications counsel.
  • Leverage analytics to identify areas of improvement or enhancements to inform strategy, tactics and messaging.
  • Provide proactive communications counsel and tactical support for various teams, departments and leaders throughout the organization.
  • Develop and lead strategic multifaceted communications plans, partnering with members of the Marketing & Communications team and key project/workgroup stakeholders to ensure message consistency, timeliness and intent.
  • On-call responsibilities.

Job description

Position Summary

The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring internal communications strategies, processes, plans and content for the health system. As a member of the Internal Communications team, the Internal Communications Specialist supports and collaborates with cross-functional leaders and departments to engage, inspire, celebrate and inform team members, and is an advocate for bringing the team member voice and perspective into the work we do.

The emphasis of this role is to provide proactive communications counsel and tactical support for Shared Services teams, system executives and Medical Center leadership as well as manage the system-wide all leader newsletter.

In collaboration with Internal Communications manager, lead the design and execution of the health systems and Medical Center's town halls (virtual and in-person), supporting content development, system planning and coordination, identifying and recommending improvements based on industry best practices, internal audience feedback and metrics.

Manage the (leader) system wide newsletter, overseeing the content calendar, coordination with content contributors, distribution, metrics review and recommending opportunities to improve.

Produce effective, authentic, relevant and well-researched content in the leadership team's voice for a wide range of formats, events and audiences.

Support the Medical Center's communications strategy and team member communications (content calendar management, messaging, tactics).

Serve as The Current's day-to-day point of contact as well as train, onboard and lead recurring check-ins for content creators/publishers/administrators.

Provide proactive communications counsel and tactical support for teams within Human Resources, Well-being, Office of Experience and Inclusion & Belonging.

$53,913.60 - $78,581.36/year

  • Hybrid role (based out of Greenville, NC)
    • In person 3 times per week
    • On call twice per quarter
