Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Organizational Development, or a related field of study.
  • 3 years of related experience in internal/corporate communications.
  • Hands-on experience producing multimedia channel communications (email, intranet/CMS content, presentations, event materials) in an internal communications role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver audience-focused content for internal audiences across the university and affiliated entities.

Pay Range: $68,300.00 - $102,500.00

Job Description

The Internal Communications Representative supports and helps deliver communication plans and tactics aimed at engaging and informing WGU employee audiences across the university and affiliated entities, enabling them to support our students and our mission.

Primary Duties
  • Build strong working relationships with different teams and leaders across the WGU system, typically in support of a strategic lead who owns the internal client relationship, to help develop and deliver audience-focused content and communications.
  • Put communication plans into action by creating compelling written and visual communications for multiple audiences, adjusting tone and approach to fit each audience and internal client's needs.
  • Utilize a variety of communication channels, including Email, newsletters, employee intranet, and employee events
  • Work effectively with teammates and internal stakeholders to solve complex problems.
  • Adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities.
  • Support projects outside of the core role to accomplish objectives that advance WGU's mission and vision.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with individuals and teams to develop and integrate communication plans that support WGU initiatives.
  • Supports initiatives that foster employee engagement, contributing content and execution support to established engagement measurement efforts.
  • Creates content for newsletters, emails, presentations, monthly town halls, and the employee intranet.
  • Supports the planning and implementation of town halls, all-hands meetings, and other events throughout the year.
  • Edits and proofreads content for accuracy, appropriateness, and grammar while ensuring content meets internal communications best practices and follows style guides.
  • Adheres to and operates within established communications policies and procedures.
  • Manages projects that support internal communications.
  • Supports special initiatives, as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Superior writing skills.
  • Strong copy-editing and structural editing skills, applying established style and voice standards.
  • Proficient in building clear, well-organized visual presentations (PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of intranet applications and other content management systems.
  • Ability to take complex information and create audience-specific content that is comprehensible, memorable, and has a measurable impact.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with individuals and teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate appropriate resources and involve partners when appropriate.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Organizational Development, or a related field of study.

Experience

3 years of related experience, such as hands-on experience producing multimedia channel communications (email, intranet/CMS content, presentations, event materials) in an internal communications, corporate communications, marketing communications, journalism, or similar communication-focused role.
