Job summary

The Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is seeking to hire a beginning professional to serve as an Internal Auditor Trainee in the Bureau of Internal Audit. This position will begin to complete audits with help and coaching from higher level auditing staff.

During the trainee period, the auditor will continue to become more independent and should be able to perform an audit independently by the end of the trainee period.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree with coursework in accounting, auditing, business management, public administration, economics, computer science, or other related subjects.
• Prefers extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe PDF.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, for a period of up to 12 months, participates in an agency sponsored internal audit training program.
• Receives work assignments designed to develop knowledge, understanding, and practical auditing techniques and procedures for the review, analysis, evaluation of, and effectiveness of the audited agencies internal operations and controls.
• Attends Internal Audit meetings and meets Continuing Professional Education requirements through formal and in-house training.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
