Job summary

Questar III BOCES is seeking an Internal Auditor to provide independent auditing and consulting services to school districts and BOCES across New York State. The role emphasizes evaluating financial operations, internal controls, compliance with laws, and governance processes, while identifying risks and recommending improvements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong grounding in governmental accounting, with experience in payroll, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, or general accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting with less than 1 year accounting experience or
• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Admin, Public Admin with 18 accounting hours and 2 years of professional accounting experience or
• Equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and report audits of financial, operational, and compliance activities.
• Evaluate internal controls and governance processes to assess risk management.
• Provide practical recommendations to improve efficiency, accountability, and performance.
• Collaborate with district and BOCES leadership and Boards of Education to strengthen fiscal oversight.
