Job summary

Ignite Digital seeks an experienced Internal Auditor to support federal government projects in the National Capital Region. The role emphasizes risk assessment, internal control testing (SOC-1/SOC-2), and clear reporting.

A Secret clearance is required, with on-site client work and potential hybrid telework. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential in a dynamic government contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in internal audit.
• Experience with internal control testing, risk assessments, and evaluating control frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• CIA/CPA or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential risks related to financial reporting and systems.
• Perform test of design and test of effectiveness on internal controls (SOC-1 and SOC-2)
• Identify deficiencies or weaknesses and ensure remediation.
• Document testing procedures, results, and control gaps.
• Lead process walkthroughs with stakeholders and document processes.
• Prepare audit reports communicating findings and recommendations.
• Present audit results to management and follow up on corrective actions.

Ignite Digital has an exciting opportunity for an Internal Auditor to support the technical delivery on one of our projects within the Federal Government in the National Capital Region. The nature of this position requires the candidate to exhibit exceptional organizational skills, notable attention to detail, outstanding verbal, written, listening and communication skills. The ability to self-motivate and take initiative is a must. The position will be on-site working directly with clients or hybrid depending on program needs. Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential risks related to financial reporting and financial systems
• Collaborate with management to prioritize risks, develop action plans, and ensure controls are in place to mitigate identified risks.

Internal Control Testing & Reporting

• Perform test of design and test of effectiveness on financial reporting and financial system (SOC-1 and SOC-2) internal controls in alignment with OMB Circular A-123
• Identify deficiencies or weaknesses in internal control systems, ensuring that they are promptly addressed and remediated
• Ensure proper documentation of testing procedures, results, and identified control gaps
• Lead process walkthrough discussions with stakeholders and document the processes as needed
• Prepare audit reports that clearly communicate findings, including identified control weaknesses, risk exposures, and recommendations for improvement
• Present audit results and key findings to management and relevant stakeholders, focusing on risks that may impact financial reporting or compliance
• Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions and monitor progress on risk mitigation efforts.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in internal audit
• Experience with conducting internal control testing, risk assessments, and evaluating control frameworks
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Active Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Skills:

• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional designation

Work Location:

• On client site with potential for hybrid telework

Internal Salary Guidance:

100k+ to align with experience and education
