Job summary

Halff seeks a Civil Engineer Intern – Water Resources in Baton Rouge, LA, for a 2027 summer internship from June 7 to August 13. The role features full-time hours (40/wk) with hourly pay, and no housing provided.

You will design projects under a Professional Engineer, assist in drainage analyses, prepare plans and cost estimates, perform CAD drafting, and support regulatory submissions with cross-team coordination.

Qualifications

• Pursuing civil engineering degree (ABET accredited equivalent preferred).

Job description

Civil Engineer Intern – Water Resources

Location: Baton Rouge, LA office. The internship will begin on June 7th, 2027, and conclude on August 13th, 2027.

Interns are paid hourly and work full-time (40 hours/week), typically 8a-5p Monday through Friday.

Halff does not pay for or provide housing for Internships.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Help design drainage and stormwater analysis and design
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water Resources projects
• Perform drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

Requirements

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
• Experience with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is preferred, however not required
• Great communication skills
• Solid relationship and team building skills
• Self-motivated and strong organization skills
