Job summary

A leading MEP contractor is seeking a Virtual Construction Intern in Richmond, VA. This position offers hands-on experience in project management and 3D modeling. Role responsibilities include collaborating with Project Managers to create efficient drawings and providing accurate estimates. Candidates should possess a high school diploma and a basic understanding of mechanical systems, along with experience in AutoCAD and Revit. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic understanding of mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal is beneficial.
• Ability to read and understand contract drawings, specs, and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Document and provide marked up submittals to Project Manager.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to reduce installation costs.
• Generate full coordination and fabrication drawings.

Skills

Understanding of mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal

A day in the life:

• Document and provide marked up submittals to Project Manager showing any modifications, or discrepancies related to inline duct and piping devices
• Collaborate with Project Managers to reduce cost of installation and create an efficient layout/drawing
• Generate full coordination and fabrication drawings—i.e., pounds of metal, accessories, footage, weld inches, feet of pipe, etc.
• Provide accurate estimates for completion of assignments

You should have:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• A basic level of understanding of his/her trade (mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal) relative to commercial and industrial construction
• The ability to read and understand contract drawings, specs, and submittals
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D design
• Ability to work from jobsite environment on occasion
