Job summary

C&S Companies is seeking a Summer 2027 Transportation Construction Inspection Intern for a ~12 week, on-site experience. The role offers mentorship, hands-on field and office work, and exposure to civil/site infrastructure projects.

You will assist in project coordination, data collection, and use of engineering tools under supervision, building practical skills for a career in transportation construction inspection.

Qualifications

• Must have completed freshman year of a degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and be a matriculated student.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine aspects of civil engineering and construction management under supervision.
• May use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform tasks.
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation.

What you'll be doing on the day to day:

• Perform, under close supervision, routine aspects of civil engineering and construction management requiring knowledge and application of principles learned in course of study.
• May use computer‑assisted engineering software and equipment to perform tasks.
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation
• Assist in the coordination of projects from the design phase all the way through construction.
• Provide support to staff members as needed.

About our internship program:

C&S Companies internship program is a ~12 week full‑time on‑site summer experience. Interns are paired with mentors within their area of expertise and generally work on a mix of internal and external projects tailored to the intern's professional interest. This includes both office and field work, professional development seminars and opportunities, technical trainings taught by our subject matter experts, networking opportunities, and more!

Minimum Education & Experience Required

Must have completed freshman year of a degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related degree and be a matriculated student at time of internship.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong desire to pursue a career in civil engineering or construction management.
• Solid analytical, conceptual, and problem‑solving skills.
• Resourceful and self‑motivated.
• Solid organizational skills with a focus on details.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
• Previous internship experience and/or involvement as an active member of related professional student association a plus.

Estimated Compensation Range and Benefits

$18.00 – 24.00/hr.*

*Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
