Job summary

Halff is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for our Transportation team in Richardson, TX. The internship runs from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027, and focuses on transportation design, including TxDOT, city, and county roadway projects, as well as CAD work and cost estimation.

You will work under a Professional Engineer, assisting in plans, specifications, cost estimates, CAD tasks, and permitting while collaborating with surveyors, architects, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.

Job description

Halff is actively seeking an Intern for our Transportation team in our Richardson, TX office. The Civil Engineering Intern will be helping perform Transportation design, including TxDOT, city, and county roadway and highway design projects. This Civil Engineering Intern will assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Transportation projects as well as helping with CAD work. The Internship will begin on June 7th, 2027, and conclude on August 13th, 2027.

What You Will Do

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Transportation projects
• Assist with drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

What You Will Need

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
• Great communication skills
• Solid relationship and team building skills
• Self-motivated and strong organization skills

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
