Job summary

HPM INC is seeking a summer internship in Englewood, CO for a hands-on construction project assistant. The role is on-site, full-time during summer, offering hourly pay and opportunities to work with the project team in testing, inspections, progress photography, and document control.

You will participate in daily and weekly meetings, learn safety practices, and help prepare submittals and change orders. Candidates should be enrolled in a construction-related college program and have at least

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in college program related to construction, typically has completed at least two (2) years of college coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with HPM’s culture and business practices and how they affect client, subcontractor, and HPM team member relationships.
  • Assist project team with maintaining record documents such as testing, inspections, progress photographs, daily reports, etc.
  • Attend daily and weekly project meetings with both HPM team and external parties such as subcontractors, vendors, clients.
  • By end of summer, lead morning stretch & flex with project team including safety/toolbox talks.
  • Perform tasks related to the collection of schedule data required to monitor project progress.
  • Assist in the packaging and preparation of submittals, change orders, RFIs, and posting of contracting documents.
  • Become familiar with contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance of work and gain overall understanding of scope of work.
  • Assist with project tasks as assigned, could be a variety of hands-on field work, surveying duties, computer-based tasks, depending on project needs.

Location:

On-site, fully in person. Projects generally based within 60 miles of our Englewood, CO office, but other opportunities often available. If asked to work remotely, HPM would provide housing and other benefits.

summer internship – hourly pay, 40+ hrs/week for 10-12 weeks

Benefits:

HPM Offers a 401k retirement plan with 4% matching that is fully vested from the start date, 529 college savings plan with an immediate match up to $2,000/year, paid holidays over the summer (Memorial Day and Independence Day typically).

Pay:

$25/hour

QualificationsDuties/Responsibilities:

Education and Certification Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrolled in college program related to construction, typically has completed at least two (2) years of college coursework
Basic Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be over the age of 18 to apply
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record may be required depending on project assignment and scope of work
  • Must be teachable, open and responsive to feedback
  • Must be driven and excited to gain hands-on experience
  • Must have a commitment to safety, working closely with team members to prevent accidents/injuries
  • Must have solid computer skills – Procore and Bluebeam experience a plus
  • Ensure consistent and punctual attendance, demonstrating reliability and regularity
  • Complete tasks within designated deadlines during standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary
  • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to both oral and written instructions, including safety protocols, equipment guidelines, and company policies
  • Sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds frequently
  • Ability to work in the office, in a job trailer, and outside in varying weather conditions as needed, sometimes around loud noise
